  Teaching aims:

  Step 1 Revision
  1. The teacher shows the students a map of china and asks: What countries in the world do you know? Makes a list of the familiar countries such as: the USA the UK Japan and so on.
  2. Here are some beautiful pictures .They are some of the most famous places in the world. Do you know where they are? Look at this mountain. What is its name? write them on the blackboard.
  Step 2 Presentation
  1. Show the pictures of different interest of places in the world: the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, the White House, the CN Tower, Red Square.
  2. Ask the students to finish the exercises on page7, part A.
  Step 3 Presentation
  1 Show the picture: What country is this photo from? It’s from China. Where is it? It’s in Beijing .Beijing is the capital of China. Write the word on the blackboard “capital’

  Step 1 Presentation
  The teacher can talt our own hometown with the students.
  1 .Do you like the city / town you live in ?

  3. Are people here very friendly ? Do they often help each other ?
  4. Do many people drive cars to go to work?
  Bb: hometown  friendly  drive  each other 。
  2 Introduce John’s hometown.
  John is one of the exchange students . He wants to introduce his hometown . Please read the notes and answer the questions .

  1. Show a picture of the tallest man in the USA. Ask:
  Who is he ? How tall is he ? How long is his hand?
  2. Read through Part A and know some information about the tallest man, Sandwiches and TV.

  1. Tell students We will write an article about your favorite pet.Here is a sample article from Amy.Please read it and try to find what she wrote about her pet.
  2. Asdents to read Amy's presentation about Poppy in Part B. Read through Amy's presentation together with the students and explain more difficult words or phrases. Ask individual students to read different parts of the presentation.
